Cleaning vs Sanitizing: Let’s put the concepts in their proper place
What is cleaning?
Cleaning is the act of removing any visible and unwanted particles from a surface using detergent and water. It does not necessarily destroy the germs but removes them.It definitely reduces the number of germs as a first step in preventing allergies and infection.
What is certain is that it is – or should be – the first step towards disinfection and sterilization.
What is disinfection?
Unlike the cleaning, th disinfection reduces or even eliminates the microbial load on surfaces or objects by using chemicals other than cleaning agents.
Disinfection does not clean surfaces or eliminate germs. But its application must always be done after cleaning.
Let’s categorise the cleaning methods into 3 levels, from basic to high-level: 1.cleaning, 2.disinfection and sterilisation.
Think of it as a scale where at one end the cleaning method doesn’t kill any bacteria and along the end of the scale these cleaning methods are effective at killing germs, it’s just that the percentage of them killed varies.Disinfection can kill up to 99.99% of pathogens.
The iQx gives you the security of 99.9% disinfection protection for a long time without the stress of constantly repeating the disinfection cycles .
